Just saw the Hunger Games movie
My review: Better than the book, but just. I’d give it about a 7.5/10
I have a few choice words:
- Camera-work: All I have to say is, Da fuq? The camera was way too shaky which made it hard to figure out what was going on, especially during the fight with Cato on the Cornucopia. All I’m saying is, don’t go if you have motion sickness
- Katniss: Excellently played by Jennifer Lawrence. My main complaint about book-Katniss was that she iswaytoo bitchy and annoying. Lawrence doesn’t play her character out of the book, which I see as an improvement
- Haymitch: My only complaint about Haymitch is that they cut out his best line from the whole book: “You want my advice? Stay alive”
- Added scenes: I loved the scenes added with Seneca Crane, President Snow, and Haymitch. I’m not a big fan of the characterization in the book: I thought it was too long and too focused on Katniss. I enjoyed how the movie was able to move the focus between Katniss and Peeta, and the Capitol and the rest of Panem
